Managing reporting data from 30 departments
Landing is a membership-based network reinventing traditional housing rentals for mobile professionals. Through one streamlined platform, Landing members can access 20,000+ furnished, flexible-lease apartments in over 375 cities across the United States.
Landing’s finance team relied heavily on manual processes for monthly reporting, budget versus actual variance analysis, and departmental budget reviews. These processes often required downloading data from NetSuite and Looker, uploading the data into Excel or Google Sheets, and then manually manipulating the data to extract insights and create graphs and charts. As the company matured, the team knew they needed a more scalable tool — and found Vareto.
“We looked at Anaplan and Adaptive, but implementation took too long. They’re not built to be useful for non-finance power users,” said Senior Manager of Corporate Finance Ben Huang. “We also looked at some new upstarts, but they were focused too much on SMBs — we needed a solution that could scale with the company. With Vareto, we found a product that would be able to serve our needs as we grew while getting white glove service with the Customer Growth team.”
“We’ve been very pleasantly surprised by Vareto’s performance capability,” added Corporate Finance Manager Naveen Santhosh. “We’re able to manage data from 30 departments without lag or crashes. The user experience is intuitive, and we’re constantly seeing new features being rolled out. Our Customer Growth Manager has been super responsive and communicative. Working with Vareto has been a great experience.”
With Vareto’s NetSuite integration, the team can instantly access the latest financial data for department BvAs and budget reviews. The team leverages Vareto daily, using summary dashboards and month-to-month visualizations to get snapshots of business health.
“One of our favorite features of Vareto is the ability to build our own custom reports,” said Ben. “Given the space we’re in, it’s been helpful to have our charges aggregated by vendor to understand variances from period to period. We’ve set it up in Vareto so this happens automatically. Our business partners can recognize in real-time where they stand in terms of budget, spending, and where things are off because of spikes every month.”
“Because of Vareto, we’re able to have a formalized review process with our departments. We’re cutting meeting time in half because we’re not spending time trying to navigate NetSuite live in the meeting or dealing with weird data discrepancies. Business partners have the tools to better prepare for meetings. The visibility that Vareto provides gives them information they can trust.”

The finance team leverages Vareto for reporting with department leads and company executives, including BvAs and company metric dashboards. By having all financial and operational data automatically brought into one place and consolidated for their specific needs, the team can scale with business needs.
“Vareto is our one-stop shop,” said Ben. “We’re using it not just for aggregating data — it’s going to be our forecasting and planning tool. We’re easily saving at least 20-30 hours a month per person with Vareto. We don’t have to manually check everything because all the data is brought directly in from NetSuite. We have confidence that we have the latest accurate data and can quickly identify outliers. It allows us to be better at our jobs.”
Vareto has seen strong adoption across teams, including at the executive and VP level. Rather than submitting requests to Finance and waiting for a response, company leaders can now go directly into Vareto to get the necessary information.
“Business partners can access information on their own, click into it, and understand where they are month over month without relying on manual inputs from Finance,” explained Senior Finance Manager Reid Fernambucq. “It lets business owners feel in control of their budgets and always know where they are as they progress into the month. Our CMO is able to check mid-month how expenses are trending and understand where her budget stands. Execs, VPs, and other people managing budgets love being able to track everything in one consolidated space.”
With Vareto in place, Finance now enjoys a stronger working relationship with company stakeholders.
“Our business relationships have improved significantly because of Vareto,” said Ben.
